Childcare and early years education

Funded places for two-year-olds (if you are in receipt of certain benefits or other Government support)

Some two-year-old children are eligible for a funded place. This works out at 570 hours taken over 12 months. The hours can be taken at 15 hours a week, or fewer hours over more weeks in the year.

Eligible two-year-olds can access a place the term after their second birthday.

Eligibility

The full criteria for the funding can be found on the Help with Childcare Costs area of Gov.uk.

If you think your child might qualify, you can apply online via our Citizen Portal, through an approved childcare provider, or through a Best Start Family Hub.

You will need:

·         your national insurance number

·         date of birth

·         your child’s name

·         your child’s date of birth


When visiting your chosen childcare provider, you will be asked to show your child’s birth certificate.
